Skala Preview has been tested with the latest versions of iOS, Android and Photoshop (including PS CC 2014.2). Oh, and please make sure you’re running iOS 8.0.2 or newer (far better Wi-Fi networking than 8.0). If you can’t use Personal Hotspot, creating an ad hoc network from your Mac should work (yep, same URL!): Īs stated, there’s things we can do to improve Skala Preview and Skala View’s networking, but most of the time the issue is the Wi-Fi network (some routers and networks don’t like open connections and high bandwidth, over a long period of time). If you’d like Skala Preview to work and you don’t have a Wi-Fi network to use, you can connect via USB, using Personal Hotspot on iOS (please note that Personal Hotspot can work in conjunction with Wi-Fi or Ethernet on your Mac):

There’s nothing we can do about this, but here’s a list of ports that need to be available for Skala Preview to work: We still have improvements to make to Skala Preview and Skala View’s networking, but here’s some common causes of issues, and some fixes.Ĭorporate networks often have ports blocked. Skala View 2.0 and Skala Preview 2.0 are currently in development (no ETA though, sorry).

Skala View 1.8 for Android will also be released very soon.

#Skala preview stopped working update#
This update fixes bugs, adds iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus support, and improves the design. It should be out in the next few days, all going well with the App Store review. Skala View 1.8 for iOS is currently in review for release. We still don’t have an ETA, but we’re working as fast as we can, while maintaining a standard we’re happy with. It means a lot to me - this is the UI design tool I will be using for the rest of my career, so it can’t suck. We’re a tiny team, but this project means a lot to us. We realise that portions of the codebase may survive a long time, as might people’s Skala documents, so we’re not taking any decisions lightly. I really can’t wait to hear people’s thoughts - we’ve spent a huge amount of time, carefully considering every single feature. It contains many new approaches to old problems. And so far, the performance is shaping up to be great.

I’m very happy with the rendering quality. I’m very proud of the work we’ve done so far. When we’re ready, there will be a lot to talk about. This app only works if the target app is using intents to call for all camera apps present on the device and will not work if the app is hardcoded to a. We haven’t released any more information, because some features may change before release (and we don’t want to disappoint), and because we’d rather keep things quiet until we have something available for download. In fact, we’re ramping up as we march towards a public beta. Skala is definitely still in development. I've the feeling that Skala is no longer in development.
